Meet Christy
ByHello everyone!! My name is Christy and I am a second year Business Psychology M.A. student at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. After spending three years at Purdue University, I received my A.A. of Psychology from Southwestern Michiagan college in 2006 and a B.A. of Psychology from Indiana University South Bend in 2009.
A curious person by nature, I love learning about anything and everything from most anybody. I enjoy taking on new challenges and turning them into adventures, always searching for the lessons within. I consider myself to be very upbeat (sometimes silly, but always fun-loving!) and prefer to focus on the positive, though I do not ignore the less-than-positives. I have a broad range of interests including: executive coaching, change management and employee motivation in the world of business and indulge in other hobbies such as, photography, reading, and spending time with family and friends in the world of Christy.
Born in Elkhart, IN and raised in Edwardsburg, MI, I have been living in Chicago since October and am slowly becoming familiar with the area. I enjoy exploring the city and am always open to suggestions of where to go next!
I am excited to be a part of the Monar crew and am looking forward to all the experiences to come!
Question Quickfire
What is your childhood nickname & why?
Childhood friends referred to me as “Bubbles” due to my bubbly personality J
What do you like to munch on at the movie theater?
One of my favorite movie-theater candies is Sour Patch kids, though I am a sucker for Gobstoppers as well. However, buttered popcorn will always be king in my book.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
As a young girl, I was certain that I would grow up to be either a back-up dancer for Madonna, Paula Abdul, or Janet Jackson, or a stand-up comedian J
Who has inspired you the most in life and why?
Having been raised in part by my grandparents, I would say that my grandmother had the most influence on my life. From her I learned the value of hard, honest work, education and commitment to one’s family. Her support and encouragement was motivation for me to become the first member of my family to attend college and I will always carry with me her lessons of being honest and staying true to loved ones.
If you were an animal, what would you be?
I would be a hummingbird. Like all birds, hummingbirds enjoy the freedom of flight, but are small enough to explore areas larger birds aren’t able to penetrate.
