FridayFeature: Freedom Playlist
ByHere we are again with MonarMusing’s FridayFeature, where we pay tribute to all the grueling work you handle throughout the week. Rather than assailing your eyes, this week we target your ears. The following are tunes to blast as you drive your car away from the office at 5PM, ready to enjoy your two days of relative freedom.

5. The Who, “I’m Free”
You can’t argue with The Who, especially when Roger Daltrey’s first words are “I’m FREE.” Short, sweet, and to the point.
4. ‘N Sync, “Just Got Paid”
A bit of a teenage throwback, ‘N Sync gives a homage to your Friday paycheck in a capella. Apparently it’s akin to throwing a large party and checking out “fine young ladies” that look “fly.” If only our salary was so powerful.
3. Europe, “The Final Countdown”
This one is better saved for 4:55PM, if your boss will allow a celebratory mind-melting right before you’re let out of work. Think of the last five minutes as your “Final Countdown” before the weekend.
2. Franz Ferdinand, “Take Me Out”
You’ve worked hard this week. You deserve to be taken out. Franz Ferdinand’s hit is just catchy enough to convince you to engage in a little rabble-rousing.
1. Loverboy, “Working for the Weekend”
No, dear readers, we were not going to end this countdown without a shout-out to the most emblematic end-of-workweek song out there. If you know more lyrics than “EVERYBODY’S WORK-IN FOR-THE WEEK-END,” then you’re either duly impressive or duly without a social life. Either way…turn the volume up.
Update your iPods, MonarMusers. We’ll see you next week.
